Our goal at Phoenix Barber School is to provide our students with excellent educational knowledge, and hands-on training in our Barber courses and to prepare our students in obtaining their Arizona State License in Barbering. We strive to facilitate licensed graduates in successfully obtaining suitable employment in the field of Barbering.

CURRICULUM
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is designed to introduce the student to the science of Barbering & Hairstyling through theoretical training and practical application designed to instill good work habits, ethics, good grooming, and professionalism. Skills related to the field of barbering & hairstyling are introduced, fine-tuned, and polished so that upon graduation, the student is at an entry level of acceptable performance in the business world of Cosmetology.

COURSE FORMAT
Classes are taught on a five-day-week schedule. Theory classes are conducted everyday, along with practical application everyday. Classes are taught by lecture, demonstration, audio visual aids, and live "hands on" participation by all. Some of the teaching methods used are question and answer, note taking, role play, discussion, and project assignments.

BARBER
COURSE GOALS
A. To present an overview of Barbering law and rules and regulations in relation to consumer protection for both health and economic matters.
B. To use chemical agents and ultraviolet rays to sanitize implements and equipment in the shop and promote and protect good health in the community.
C. To gain information and knowledge to give a facial massage treatment using cosmetics properly in protecting the client from significant damage.
D. To use hair shaping implements and supplies in cutting the clients' hair in a requested style in a time between 15 to 30 minutes.
E. To use shampoo supplies and chemicals in cleansing the scalp and hair preparation for additional shop services.
F. To have a basic understanding of chemistry and how it relates to various processes involved in Barbering.
G. To understand professionalism, ethics, job skills, resume development, and job search.
H. To understand the basic principles needed to plan and operate a Barber Shop as a successful business.
